Daniel Medin reports on the winners of the 2011 best translated book award:

Steger, The Book of Things
Jansson, The True Deceiver

Slovenian Aleš Šteger’s The Book of Things along with its translator Brian Henry (BOA Editions) for poetry, and Finnish genius Tove Jansson for her 1982 novel The True

Deceiver, translated from the Swedish by Thomas Teal (NYRB Classics).

Delighted by this result. Jansson’s Summer Book, another NYRB Classic, was one of the best novels I read last year.
